iOS 6 Now Out!

Avoid upgrading to iOS 6 until a public jailbreak comes out! We'll be working on one but it looks like our exploitation method may have been blocked with the new iOS' Kernel ASLR. If we do find another vuln and exploit it, we will try our best to get an iOS 6 jailbreaking tool out ASAP.

We are also going to be working on bringing iOS 6 to the 1st gen iPad, but no ETA or progress yet!

Peace and love

Tips On Finding Exploits

Earlier today the iDevTeam were discussing whether or not to release the iOS 5.1 A5 jailbreaking tool to the public, just like @Pod2g. We believe that the exploits found in iOS 5.1 will most probably be patched up if we/Pod2g release a tool to jailbreak iOS 5.1 on A5 devices.

BUT we have not come to a conclusion to release the tool or not.

On the contrary to this fiasco, the iDevTeam thought we should give some tips to those who want to become the coders of jailbreaks and founders of exploits. No one in the iDevTeam has a degree in something related to IT but we do have a craving for a fully customisable iDevice. We have all learnt from either the Internet or each other. So here are a few tips on how to become a jailbreaker:

• Have a Mac - Macs are great for any exploit finding. We used our Mac(s) to code and find user land/kernel land vulns.

• Read Mr Steffan Esser's work. Go through his presentations and use existing methods. (His presentation on iOS kernel exploitation is probably the most useful document we've ever come across in assisting us to find vulns. THANK YOU MR ESSER!!!)

• We also think having some knowledge in Xcode, Cydia and Mach-O binary is good. Reading the JailbreakWiki is a good start, look at some of Apple's Xcode tutorials and get to know the basics.

If you can find a hardware exploit you have found a pretty much unpatchable exploit until Apple change the hardware of a product.

We are a community. We want everyone to have a jailbroken device because that's what iDevices are actually for! If you become/want to become a dev let us know! Join out team and help liberate more iDevices!

Another Update on Project NY/iBBM

As promised yesterday here are some more screen shots of Project NY/iBBM! Over the past two weeks we've been working on the app as well as the DyLibJect iOS 5.1 A5 jailbreak.

Also the Android version of iBBM is now being developed but will only be released after the iOS version is available to the public.

Shout out to Lee Muldoon for designing the DyLibHackers News app logo which is about to be released to the app store soon! Cheers mate!

iBBM Update

Hi,

The DyLibHackers have been pretty busy working on finding an A5 iOS 5.1 jailbreak and are still currently working on it. We jailbroke iOS 5.1 Beta 3 but our exploits were patched up.

We have been doing some work on iBBM. We've decided to call it Project NY at the moment until the app is released.

We still want people to join our team so just drop us an e-mail and we'll reply straight back to you.

We are still looking for:

  • iPhone developers
  • Blackberry developers
  • Graphic designers
  • Alpha/Beta testers

E-mail us - dylibhackers@gmail.com
Tweet to us - @dylibhackers

Peace and love from the DyLibHackers!

Q & A About iBBM

Hi,

As we are still in early stages of development (Alpha) we can only post limited updates on iBBM. We've had quite a few questions which will be answered in this post.

What is iBBM?

iBBM is the sibling of Blackberry Messenger. iBBM allows users on many iOS devices to communicate with Blackberry users who have BBM through BBM.

When will iBBM be available and where?

It is very hard to predict when iBBM will be available as it is still in very early stages of development, with only one developer. Once the app has been through testing and is ready to be published we are hoping to get it on Cydia. We've looked into releasing it on the App Store but we have a feeling that it will most likely be rejected.

Who is developing iBBM and why?

The iDevTeam are developing iBBM. We are doing this because we have had Blackberry(s) previously, and want the Blackberry Messenger service on our iOS devices.

Can I help or join the development program?

You definitely can! We are looking for:

  • iPhone developers
  • Blackberry developers
  • Graphic designers
  • Alpha/Beta testers
Oh yeah! What about the price?

We are still unsure about the price. We are thinking of having two versions, one free (with limited functionality) and another costing £0.69 (full functionality). That 69p will help to fund development and will take care of servers involved in exchanging messages.

Lastly, will this app come to the Android OS?

Of course! We are looking to branch into many OS'. iOS is our main priority.

Over the next few days we'll post some images of the app so far.

Peace and love from the iDevTeam!
